Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, on October 22, in a post on X, said that the trio is suspected of stealing furniture items and electric generators from the houses which were burnt down during the recent clashes.

The accused were apprehended by the security forces while conducting foot patrolling in and around Moreh town around 9 am on October 22.

Manipur CM N Biren Singh further said that the trio were handed over to the Moreh Police Station for thorough verification. They have been identified as Khamkhenthang Guite 25, Aung Mae 30 and Aung Aung 25.

“This happened when some particular organisations were objecting and protesting against the deployment of state police and commandos at Moreh town,” Manipur CM N Biren Singh said.

He further said that the Manipur Government cannot keep silent on such an alarming issue of illegal migration.

“It is apparent that these organisations do not want the presence of State forces in Moreh so that many of these Myanmarese can be brought into the country. The State Government cannot keep silent on such an alarming issue of illegal migration,” he added.
