Once again, a shocking case of rape in a Madarsa has come to light in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district. On September 23, a 9-year-old girl went to the madarsa to take deeni education; however, she was raped by one of his teachers, identified as Hafiz Irfan. The accused reportedly raped the minor girl until she became unconscious and started to bleed. Subsequently, he fled the scene, assuming the girl had died. After regaining consciousness, the minor managed to go back to her home in a bloodied state and narrate her ordeal to her sister and other family members.

The case has been reported from the Bhasana village that falls under the Budhana police station area. The minor girl studied at the Noorjahan Masjid madarsa that falls in the Safipur Patti area. As per the reports, the accused Hafiz Irfan took the girl to another room on the pretext of cleaning it. As the minor girl was alone, the accused teacher brutally raped her until she fell unconscious. She also started to bleed.

Assuming that the girl had died and he ran away from the madarsa. However, the victim later regained consciousness and managed to return to her home. Upon reaching home she shared everything with her elder sister after which the family reached the police station.

The parents of the minor girl, lodged a complaint against the accused. Subsequently, the police registered a case against the accused madarsa teacher under section 376 of the IPC and POCSO Act.

In the meantime, Circle Officer Yatendra Singh Nagar of Phugana confirmed the incident and stated that a case has been filed against the accused, Hafiz Irfan. CO Nagar further mentioned that active measures are being taken to apprehend the fugitive. According to a report from ETV Bharat, it asserts that the accused has been apprehended. The authorities indicated that the underage victim underwent a medical examination. However, due to the severity of her condition, she was subsequently referred to Meerut.

Taking cognizance of the case, the Chairperson of the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) said, strict action will be taken against the accused. In a post on the social media platform, ‘X’, Priyank Kanoongo wrote, “The place of children is in school. The society has to wake up. Uncontrolled madrassas are becoming centres of exploitation of children, their mapping is very important. Cognizance is being taken into this matter.”
