Assam: Pragjyotishpur Literature Festival, Guwahati to start from September 29 with the theme ‘In Search of Roots’

With the idea of re-establishing India as the epicentre of literature and culture, a National level Literature Festival will be organised in Guwahati this September by Sankardev Education and Research Foundation (SERF) .

With an aim to restore the proud historical background of the North East, the literary festival has been named as Pragjyotishpur Literature Festival (PLF) and it will be organised in  the District Library and the Axom Sahitya Sabha premises in Guwahati.

President of the working committee of Pragjyotishpur Literature Festival Phanindra Kr. Debchaudhury and General Secretary Bikram Kalita have said that the festival will be held from September 29, 2023 and it will continue till October 1, 2023, where writers, poets and a host of dignitaries from the field of literature across the country will participate in the four days long literacy festival.

The General Secretary of Pragjyotishpur Literature Festival had also informed that they will also award eminent and new, promising writers to recognize their contribution in the literary field of Bharat. This will inspire the eminent writers as well as the young talent to dedicate themselves to the field of literature and help to find the roots of our civilisation.

Dr Sudeshna Bhattacharya, HOD of Sanskrit department, Guwahati University and Secretary of Sankardev Education and Research Foundation (SERF) informed that the theme of the fest is “In Search of Roots”. She further vocalised the need of educating the youth about our ancient heritage, culture and literature of the nation and particularly every region of the country. The vice president of the organising committee Dr Sarita Sharma shares the topics which will be highlighted during the festival.

The fest would focus on history, culture, translation, literature, nature, cinema of Bharat. Besides that literary quiz and workshops will be organised to nurture the young talents. The organising committee has informed that eminent journalist and vice president of Bharat 24 news channel Rubika Liyaquat would join the Pragjyotishpur Literature Festival as chief guest.
