Skilling made easy for all, anytime, anywhere

Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan recently launched Skill India Digital (SID), a digital platform aimed at synergising and transforming the skills, education, employment, and entrepreneurship landscape of India. Present at the launch, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said, “Today, we have launched the Skill India Digital DPI, aimed at creating a better future for our youth. Both Digital India and Skill India are visions of our PM that are aimed at creating a better future for our youth and the Skill India Digital is a platform that is at the intersection of Digital India program and the Skill India program. It will certainly take the ability of delivering skills and having access to skills to even the remotest young Indian.” This comes just a few days after the success of G20 summit, he added, where one of the most significant agreements was on DPIs.
A user-friendly platform, it aims to remove any hiccups by offering an easy-to-use interface, adaptable to various devices. This also ensures that people from diverse backgrounds can access the platform effortlessly, regardless of the technology they have access to. Also, in a country as diverse as ours, with many languages, Skill India Digital aims to bridge gaps by supporting multiple Indian languages, fostering inclusivity and providing a diverse and vibrant learning environment for all the users.

Skill India Digital is certainly one of the most important DPIs for the youth as it bridges two important components of PM’s vision for New India – Skill India & Digital India. In the post pandemic world there is tremendous awareness about digital skills, as well as skills that can generate income from home.

In the current digital landscape, the platform has also pioneered a ground-breaking approach to showcase one’s skills and qualifications, in the form of Digitally Verified Credential, a crucial component that has drastically transformed the way qualifications are exhibited. It empowers users to present their qualifications, experiences and certifications in a digital format with both authenticity and confidentiality. It also uses technology to offer secure, tamper-proof and verifiable solutions. With the introduction of digital CVs via personalised QR code, potential employers can access the portfolio of the candidate with a simple scan, which will at once showcase their skill, qualifications, work experience and achievements. Along with this the SID comes with Aadhaar based eKYC, which forms the foundation of the platform, ensuring only genuine participants and employers’ benefit from it.

The platform is driven by the vision to make skill development more personalised, innovative and accessible. It aligns perfectly with the vision articulated in the G20 framework for building DPI to promote digital skills and digital literacy. It will also serve as a comprehensive gateway for all Government skilling and entrepreneurship initiatives – a go-to hub for citizens in pursuit of skill talent hiring, career advancement and training. Now, dreams of a billion young Indians are only one click away.

Following elements will enhance the new SID platform

  • Aadhaar/ AI based Facial Authentication
  • Digital Verifiable Credentials (DVC)
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) Recommendations
  • Aadhaar based eKYC
  • Digital Learning
  • Citizen-Centric Approach
  • Mobile-First Approach
  • Scale and Speed
  • Security Measures
  • Interoperability
  • WhatsApp Chatbot
  • Ease of Doing Business
