With the G20 Summit around the corner, the Central government is planning to display a Digital Museum that will have one or more key artefacts or its digital replicas from all member nations and nine guest countries has been envisioned by India in its power as the chair of G20 influential grouping said sources. As per sources, the project is likely to be unveiled during the Leaders’ Summit from September 9 to September 10, 2023.

The Museum is called a ‘phygital museum’ as it contains both physical and digital components.

Examples Of Artefacts

The sources added that the digital replica of Monalisa, the 16th-century masterpiece by Leonardo Da Vinci, which is hung at the famous Louvre Museum in Paris, France, is likely to be presented at the Digital Museum. Another famous oil painting by the Dutch Artist, Johannes Vermeer, popularly called Girl with the Pearl Earring, is likely to be added.

Efforts by the Ministry of Culture

With the main Summit event close by, the Ministry of Culture is also working on several other projects as part of the G20 engagements, which include a Digital Museum-Culture Corridor and an “Anthology of Poems-Under the Same Sky.”

A senior official of the Culture Ministry had recently said that the G20 Museum was in its “very early phase of the project, and we are trying to source at least one key artefact from all member nations and the nine guest countries.”

Continuing further, he said, “So we have requested these twenty-eight countries if they can share at least one artefact or antiquity from their side which represents the culture of each country for the G20, and if that cannot be shared, then at least a digital replica of the symbol can be shared that can be shown in the digital corridor where the cultural richness of the world can be portrayed.

The official added that “we are also seeking poems from other G20 nations as a part of the “G20 Anthology of Poems” project, the official said.

PM Modi’s G20 Vision

At the G20 Cultural Ministers meeting and other meetings, another source claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Bharat Bhi and Vikas Bhi was showcased wonderfully during this meeting. Heritage is a vital asset for economic growth and diversification, PM Modi said in his address at the G20 Cultural Ministers Meeting and added that the mantra is Viraasat Bhi and Vikas Bhi.

At the recently conducted G20 Cultural Ministers Meeting in Varanasi, delegates were enthralled by the performance of the special G20 orchestra, which mounted the performance titled “Sur Vasudha”

A ministerial Outcome Document and the Chair’s summary of the Kashi Cultural Pathway were issued at the end of the meeting held on August 26. According to sources, the “Global South” was included in the Kashi Cultural Pathway, a word that had previously been made public or in any of the meetings held before.

India, the chair of an influential organisation, envisioned a project that would likely be launched during the Leaders’ Summit in September and will include at least one major item or its digital counterpart from each of the member countries and the nine guest countries.

India’s G20 Summit

The G20 Summit in New Delhi is all set to commence on September 9, 2023. The summit will be held for two days and will be joined by the representatives of member nations as well as guest nations. The 18th G20 Heads of States and Government Summit held in New Delhi will be the culmination of all the G20 Processes and meetings held throughout the year among ministers, senior officials, and civil societies.
