Bihar: SHO Nand Kishor Yadav succumbed to injuries after being shot by cattle smugglers in Samastipur

A Station House Officer (SHO) of Bihar police died after being shot by cattle smugglers in Samastipur of Bihar on Tuesday, said police. SHO Nandkishore Yadav, succumbed to his injuries after being referred to Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) in Patna.

As per the reports, there were incidents of cattle theft in the Mohanpur area for the past few days following which SHO Yadav had initiated an enquiry into the matter. During the course of investigation, it was revealed that a cattle smugglers gang from Nalanda was behind the recent cases of cattle theft in the region.

On getting inputs about the presence of the thieves who were trying to steal cattle a police team raided and nabbed three members of the gang along with a truck and a pickup vehicle. Upon enquiring the trio disclosed about the other gang members following which SHO Nandkishore Yadav rushed to Nan the remaining accused with a team.

It’s been learnt that the gang members opened fire on Yadav when the latter arrived there to catch them. Yadav was shot above his eyes, informed district Superintendent of Police (SP), Samastipur, Vinay Kumar. Yadav was then immediately rushed to the hospital from where he was referred to IGIMS subsequently after his situation deteriorated.

Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased have raised questions about the police theory on the matter and alleged that Yadav was forced to carry out the cattle theft investigation case, reported ANI. They further have claimed that earlier the police have informed them that Yadav met with an accident and was not shot.

Taking to the twitter, the Samastipur police while sharing a video of the state funeral of the martyred officer, informed that a special team led by Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Patori and SDPO Dalsinghsarai has been constituted and the accused are being hunted. They will soon be apprehended.

On the other hand, while slamming the incumbent ruling alliance over the law-and-order situation, Samrat Chaudhary, the state unit head of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said that police officers are killed by criminals in the state and the state government is sleeping. The Chief minister is embarrassing the democracy of Bihar.

“It is the bad luck of Bihar that here the Chief minister is sick, his party is also sick and now CM Nitish Kumar is working on making Bihar also sick, he is embarrassing the democracy of Bihar. Here it’s not criminals but the police officers who are getting killed. Some by the sand mafia or by smugglers, police officers are beaten up daily by these criminals but the Bihar Government headed by Nitish Babu is sleeping comfortably. Now Bihar is tired of Nitish Kumar ji”, added Chaudhary while interacting with the media.
