Congratulating people on the occasion of the 77th Independence Day, former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on August 15 paid homage to the brave freedom fighters who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country.

“I congratulate you all. Jai Hind! As we all get together to celebrate the 77th Independence Day, let us pay tribute to the sacrifice of our freedom fighters who gave away their present for our better future,” Amarinder Singh said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

As we all get together to celebrate the 77th #IndependenceDay, let us pay tribute to the sacrifice of our freedom fighters who gave away their present for our better future. On this day, we must also collectively thank our Armed Forces. I congratulate you all. Jai Hind! 🇮🇳 pic.twitter.com/RFhmLWWAsp

The message was a poignant reminder of the countless individuals who fought relentlessly against colonial rule.

“On this day, we must also collectively thank our Armed Forces,” he said.

Earlier, PM Modi hoisted the national flag at the Red Fort in the national capital and addressed the nation. He also took to his official handle on ‘X’, formerly Twitter, to greet countrymen on the occasion.

“Best wishes on Independence Day. We pay homage to our great freedom fighters and reaffirm our commitment to fulfilling their vision. Jai Hind!,” the Prime Minister wrote.

On his arrival at the Red Fort, PM Modi was received by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State (Defence) Ajay Bhatt, and Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane.

This year’s Independence Day will culminate the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations, which were launched by Prime Minister Narendar Modi from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on March 12, 2021, and will usher the country into ‘Amrit Kaal’.
