Bharat Internet Utsav – celebrating power of internet -bring forth real life stories in bridging the digital divide

In the past few years all of us have witnessed a complete transformation in the digital world with the advent of 4G. More so during the COVID 19 period, the digital divide has been reduced to a large extent.Today, the internet has penetrated far and wide across the country. The Indian Government also claims to have ensured that the internet  with good speed reaches the last village of the country also.

With an aim to make the people at large aware about  how digitalisation has empowered them, the MyGov along with the Ministry of Communications have launched a campaign cum competition under which they are inviting videos showcasing the transformation through “Bharat Internet Utsav- Celebrate the power of Internet”.

The changes that one has witnessed could be either cultural, social or economic.

Objective of Bharat Internet Utsav 

One of the main aims of having this competition is to ensure that people come to know the revolution which the internet has brought about, especially in rural areas. Using the internet or a smartphone is npo longer confined to the urban or metropolitan areas. With an increase in digitalisation, the life of people residing in villages has seen a paradigm shift.

Important Dates for Bharat Internet Utsav

The start date for registering for the Bharat Internet Utsav is July 7, 2023 and the end date for it is August 21, 2023. Candidates must ensure that they register beforehand and not wait till the last date.

Know the technical parameters to participate in Bharat Internet Utsav

All those who are planning to take part in the Bharat Internet Utsav, they are expected to keep the following points in mind:

  • The video should not be of more than 120 seconds or 2 minutes including the beginning and the end.
  • Those videos which do not adhere to the time limit, they would be rejected
  • Minimum length of the video should be 30 seconds including the credits
  • Participants all permitted to use both colour and monochrome videos in time-lapse/normal mode
  • Ensure that the Films/Videos are preferably shot in good quality camera/mobile phone and are in the ratio 16:9 in Horizontal format or vertical format/reel/shorts format

Rewards for Winners of Bharat Internet Utsav

The winners of the Bharat Internet Utsav will be rewarded for their performance in the Bharat Internet Utsav.

  • The first prize will be of Rs 15,000
  • The second prize will be of Rs 10,000
  • The third prize will be of Rs 5,000

Know the terms and conditions to participate in the Bharat Internet Utsav competition

  • All the participants of the Bharat Internet Utsav must check all the terms and conditions so as to avoid any last minute confusion:
  • All the participants must ensure that their MyGov Profile is accurate and updated as the same information would be used for further communication. This includes details such as:
    • Name
    • Photograph
    • Complete postal address
    • Email ID
    • Phone number
    • State

Entries with incomplete information will not be considered.

  • All entries will be intellectual property of the Ministry of Communications, Government of India and participants shall not exercise any right or claim over it at a future date.
  • All Indian citizens who are 14 years and above will be eligible to take part in the competition
  • Stringent action will be taken against any misappropriate/obscene video and the participant might be subject to legal action
  • The entry must not contain any content that is provocative, objectionable, or inappropriate
    There should be no mismatch between the participant and profile owner as it will lead to disqualification.

  • The organiser  has the right to cancel or amend all or any part of the competition/guidelines/evaluation criteria etc., at any time.
  • The short video submissions may be used by the Ministry of Communications, Government of India for promotional/ or display purposes, Information, Education and Communication materials, and for any other use which they may be deemed appropriate.
  • Once the participant has submitted the entries, the entrant then accepts and agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions that have been mentioned with regards to participation in the competition
  • The submitted entry must not infringe on the Intellectual Property Rights of any third party.

The country’s internet sector has seen a huge leap in the past nine years and has also bridged the gap between urban and rural areas. Owing to smooth access and good speed of the internet, everywhere people can access revolutionary tools such as UPI, DBT, COWIN, Digi Locker, and others and this has been made possible by developing the digital infrastructure.
