Guwahati: In a shocking statement, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Borah openly supported the dangerous Love Jihad incidents in the State and said that ” everything is fair in love and war”.

Commenting on the recent heinous triple murder case in Golaghat district where one Nazibur Hussain stabbed to death his Hindu wife Sanghamitra Ghosh, and her parents, the Congress State President said that inter caste and inter religion marriages are taking place in India from time immemorial. But now Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is giving it a communal colour and terming it as Love Jihad, Bhupen Borah said.

Everything is fair in love and war”, Chief Minister must change this proverb before terming the cross religious marriage as Love Jihad, the Congress State President added. Cross marriages are taking place from time immemorial. Even in Mahabharata, the marriage between King Dhritarashtra and Gandhari was an example of Love Jihad. It was a forceful marriage, and that is why ‘Mama Shakuni’ took revenge.

Moreover, when lord Krishna came to marry Rukmini, his best friend Arjun was in a female attire to confuse her family. It was also an example of Love Jihad only, the APCC president added. He also said that Draupadi rejected Karan because he belonged to a lower caste. So these things are going on in our society.

Reacting to the APCC president Bhupen Borah’s weird comment, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that there was only love between lord Krishna and Rukmini. But in love jihad, there is only Jihad and no love. So the murder of the girl takes place. We need to end the Love Jihad. Love and Jihad don’t go together. Where there is love there is no jihad, the Chief Minister added.

Senior Minister Pijush Hazarika said Bhupen Bora and the Congress party blended with Jihadi culture. So he dares to say that there was Love Jihad in Mahabharata. They are now so supportive to jihadi culture that they don’t think twice before insulting the Hindu and Sanatani followers, Pijush Hazarika added.
