The Manipur government has issued an order in which it has said that the internet services in the state will be restored in a phased manner. Broadband and internet services were disrupted in the state which has been marred by violence since 85 days. The decision to restore the internet services was taken by Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh after he held a meeting with the top officials
Manipur faced periodic disruptions to internet services due to various reasons, such as government-imposed shutdowns or technical issues. These disruptions could occur in response to civil unrest, security concerns, or other unforeseen events.
Conditions laid down by the Manipur government to lift internet services
The state government of Manipur took the decision to grdaullay lift the ban on the internet services as it affected people who were working from hom, adversely affect the health services and educational institutions.
Login id and password would be changed on a regular basis for the broad band services. The subscribers will not be permitted to allow Wifi/Hotspots from any of the routers and systems using the connection. It would be the responsibility of the subscribers to subscribe the social media websites and VPNs at the local level.
The concerned subscriber would have to ensure physical monitoring and keep an eye in case of violations of the terms and conditions that have been laid down by the government.
In an event of violation of any prescribed law, the subscriber concerned will be punished. It would be mandatory for the subscriber to obey all the orders and regulations with regard to change in the condition under which service is being allowed.
Why Manipur govenment took decison to stop internet services ?
The state government of Manipur took the decision to suspend the internet services in the state in wake of the violence that had occured in the state on May 3, 2023 and it spread in differe nt parts of the northeastern state in the last two months.
