On July 11, the officials of the Delhi police recovered the body parts of a woman stuffed in a plastic bag from near the Geeta Colony flyover in the Yamuna Khadar area. The police have initiated a probe by registering a case under charges of murder. The incident brought back the horrific memories of the Shraddha Walkar case — the details of which shook the nation last year.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP, North) Sagar Singh Kalsi said, “Prima facie, it is a body of around a 35 to 40-year-old person.”
Talking to news agency ANI, Paramaditya, Joint CP, Central Range, said: “Two black polythene bags have been found. One polythene contains the head of the body and the other polythene contains other parts of the body. On the basis of long hair, we are assuming that it is the body of a woman. It is yet to be identified, probe underway.”
DCP Kalsi said, following the recovery of the dead body a case has been registered at the Kotwali police station. The police is investigating and interrogating the locals so as to identify the victim. Teams of forensic experts are working round the clock at the crime scene.
“Ortho forensics will verify the gender of the deceased and a search is ongoing in the area for other evidence,” added Kalsi.
A day before this murder, a similar murder sent shock waves in the city. Organiser reported a 20-year-old man, identified as Raj Kumar was stabbed a dozen times by Ashfaq and Miraj. The accused men are the relatives of the woman, whom Raj Kumar was in a relationship with.
As per the reports, Kumar was in a relationship with a Muslim woman. He hails from Araria in Bihar and lived in North Delhi.
On July 3, Delhi police got information about an unidentified body lying at a park in the Inderlok area. Following the recovery the police began investigating the matter, a few days later the man was identified as Raj Kumar.
The accused men have slit the throat of the victim and stabbed him over a dozen times. The victim is said to have died on the spot. However, the murder case remained unsolved for days as the victim could not be identified. The area had no CCTV camera where the body was lying.
DCP (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi told the media, ‘Police discovered a man’s body next to a park in Inderlok, north of Delhi on July 3. The body, which was buried in the bushes, appeared to be that of a 20–22-year–old male, but neither a phone nor a document had been discovered around him.’
on May 28 evening, 20-year-old Sahil stabbed 16-year-old Sakshi more than 20 times before crushing her with a rock, while witnesses walking across ignored them.
The accused attacked the girl as she entered the house from the street and repeatedly stabbed her. A senior police officer said, “Her body was found lying on the road in a pool of blood.”
It was reported that Sahil informed the police that Sakshi wanted to break up with him. He further said that she was involved with her ex-boyfriend. Sahil also called Sakshi’s ex-boyfriend a hooligan and claimed that he feared him. Sahil claimed that he and the victim dated for about three years, however, she ended the relationship. The police said, “He said he was enraged as the girl had been ignoring him for some time.” It was reported that Sahil was drunk when he attacked the minor victim.
Notably, it was also reported that ever since the victim found out about his true identity she started distancing herself and this triggered the accused who stabbed and butchered her to death. Sahil was upset over the victim’s decision to end their relationship. He was angry because the two had stopped talking to each other, which eventually led him to brutally attack and kill her, according to a preliminary probe.
In May last year, Shraddha Walkar’s 28-year-old live-in partner Aaftab Poonawala strangled her, chopped her body into over 30 parts and spent the next two three months dumping them in the Mehrauli forest area. A 300-litre fridge was used to store her body parts.
While working at a call centre of an MNC in Malad, Shraddha met Aaftab Amin Poonawala via the Bumble app. Aaftab is also a resident of Vasai. He went to L.S. Raheja College for BMM studies. He, coincidentally, also worked at the same call centre. In 2019, she moved out to live with him, against her family’s wishes, who opposed the interfaith relationship and the idea of living in with someone “she barely knew”.
