Yet another interfaith affair ended up with the death of the Hindu counterpart. The capital city was still getting over from the brutal murder of teen Sakshi in the Shahbad Dairy area by stalker Sahil Khan and reports of another killing have sent shockwaves around the city.
This time, a 20-year-old man, identified as Raj Kumar was stabbed a dozen times by Ashfaq and Miraj. The accused men are the relatives of the woman, whom Raj Kumar was in a relationship with.
As per the reports, Kumar was in a relationship with a Muslim woman. He hails from Araria in Bihar and lived in North Delhi.
On July 3, Delhi police got information about an unidentified body lying at a park in the Inderlok area. Following the recovery the police began investigating the matter, a few days later the man was identified as Raj Kumar.
The accused men have slit the throat of the victim and stabbed him over a dozen times. The victim is said to have died on the spot. However, the murder case remained unsolved for days as the victim could not be identified. The area had no CCTV camera where the body was lying.
Later the police investigated the CCTV cameras installed in the nearby areas and activated their networks, which gave them clues, based on which, the identity of the accused persons was confirmed.
DCP (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi told the media, ‘Police discovered a man’s body next to a park in Inderlok, north of Delhi on July 3. The body, which was buried in the bushes, appeared to be that of a 20–22-year–old male, but neither a phone nor a document had been discovered around him.’
Two separate teams were formed upon recovery of the body and an FIR under charges for murder was filed. A team started tracking the identity of the deceased, whereas the other team searched for leads and potential suspects.
“Since there was no CCTV installed near the place, both tasks became a challenge. As the time of the incident was not clear, the CCTV footage of all exit and entry points around the scene of the crime was closely checked,” Kalsi said.
Finally, a tip-off revealed the identity of the victim as well as the accused. The suspect admitted to the authorities that Kumar was dating Ashfaq’s close relative. The family, however, was upset with the alliance and they decided to eliminate him.
The accused called the victim to the Shehzada area on the pretext of settling some issues on July 2, where they brutally hacked him to death.
The DCP stated that the accused “were aware that Kumar rarely visited his hometown and that there would be no one to report if he went missing and the body would remain unidentified.”
Two knives that were used in the crime have also been found. Police stated that they also discovered the accused’s blood-stained clothes.
This is not the first time that the capital city is witnessing such gruesome murder. Most recently, on May 28 evening, 20-year-old Sahil stabbed 16-year-old Sakshi more than 20 times before crushing her with a rock, while witnesses walking across ignored them.
The accused attacked the girl as she entered the house from the street and repeatedly stabbed her. A senior police officer said, “Her body was found lying on the road in a pool of blood.”
It was reported that Sahil informed the police that Sakshi wanted to break up with him. He further said that she was involved with her ex-boyfriend. Sahil also called Sakshi’s ex-boyfriend a hooligan and claimed that he feared him. Sahil claimed that he and the victim dated for about three years, however, she ended the relationship. The police said, “He said he was enraged as the girl had been ignoring him for some time.” It was reported that Sahil was drunk when he attacked the minor victim.
Notably, it was also reported that ever since the victim found out about his true identity she started distancing herself and this triggered the accused who stabbed and butchered her to death. Sahil was upset over the victim’s decision to end their relationship. He was angry because the two had stopped talking to each other, which eventually led him to brutally attack and kill her, according to a preliminary probe.
