Two separate FIRs (First Information Reports) have been registered against Congress Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh for posting a fake and misleading post against the second Sarsanghchalak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Madhav Sadashivrao Golwalkar. These FIRs have been registered in the Indore and Guna districts of Madhya Pradesh.
As per the FIRs, Singh has been filed against Singh under sections 153-A (attack on race, religion etc), 469 (Forgery), 500 (defamation), and 505 (punishment for circulating rumours) of the IPC. The First complaint was registered at the Tukoganj police station of the Indore district and the other at the Guna police station of the Guna district.
What led to the controversy?
On July 8, Singh posted a photoshopped image of Madhav Sadashivrao Golwalkar also known as Guruji, to incite people against RSS. The post intended to create hatred and enmity among Dalits-backwards, Muslims-Hindus. The controversial post by Singh has hurt the sentiments of the entire Hindu community and the RSS. It has been alleged the primary objective of such a controversial post by Singh was to create social unrest.
While sharing the post Singh captioned it as, “Do know what Guru Golwalkar ji’s thoughts were for Dalits, backward and Muslims and on rights over national water, forest and land.” (check the post here)
Rajesh Joshi, a resident of Sudama Nagar in Indore is a lawyer by profession, he was the first to raise an issue against Singh’s post. In his complaint to the police, Joshi held the post accountable for creating enmity, hatred, and disharmony among different castes and tarnishing the image of the RSS. On the other hand, Rajkumar Ghavri, a resident of Bhairunala Valmiki Basti of Ujjain, termed it as a deliberate attempt to demean the people who are Scheduled Caste people and create a rift between people of different castes and religions.
Another complainant, Keshav Sharma, an RSS swayamsevak and resident of Guna district in his complaint told the police that the post by Singh has hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus and many swayamsevaks and admirers of RSS. The workers at the organisation are known for their exemplary sacrifices in life and not the misleading allegations made by Singh. This is a deliberate attempt of tarnishing the social image of Sangh and that is why Singh should get punished.
Misleading Post by Digvijaya Singh against Guruji
The photoshopped image which Singh posted on Twitter mentioned that Golwalkar ji would never want such freedom which would give equal rights to Muslims and the Hindus. The Tweet showed Guruji in a bad light and it clearly indicated the mala fide intention of Singh.
RSS Slams Digvijaya Singh for Stooping to Such Low Level
Hitting back at Digvijaya Singh, Sunil Ambekar, the Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh, RSS took to Twitter to denounce Digvijaya Singh. Lashing at Digvijaya Singh, Ambekar said that there is clearly a mala fide intention behind the tweet that has been done by Digvijaya Singh against Golwalkar Guruji and its main objective is to create unwanted social unrest as well as damage the image of the RSS.
Digvijay Singh Put His Foot in His Mouth In the Past by Comparing RSS To PFI
It is not the first time that Digvijay Singh has sparked controversy against RSS or its leader. In the past also, there was outrage after Singh compared the RSS to the Popular Front of India (PFI). He had said that the PFI and the RSS were the two sides of the same coin. His remarks had come at a time when the National Investigation Agency (NIA), in a major crackdown at different places across India had arrested almost 100 PFI leaders.
Also, in order to combat the sinister motives of the PFI, the Enforcement Directorate and the NIA had carried out searches at various locations in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu as well as in other states.
RSS filed FIR against media houses who tried to damage its image
In the past, some media houses had also tried to tarnish the RSS’s image by spreading misinformation that the RSS would construct its second headquarters on 100 acres of land in Ayodhya, covering an area 100 times larger than Nagpur. It is in this regard that Dr Ashok Dubey, Prant Prachar Pramukh of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Awadh Prant had filed a Rakesh Aggarwal and Ramesh Mishra of Dainik Bhaskar, editor of Haribhoomi and chief editor of News 24.
Dubey spoke exclusively to Organiser and clearly stated that the sole objective of these media houses was to tarnish the image of the RSS.
