Amidst attempts of mass religious conversions, people from different religious backgrounds are reverting to the Sanatan Fold. In a recent case from Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi district, a Muslim woman accepted Sanatan Dharma to marry a Hindu man.

Bablu and Shabana met at their workplace, they both work at a brick factory in Kaushambi. Soon they developed feelings for each other and decided to marry. Shabana wanted to accept Sanatan Dharma before marriage and this irked her family members.

However, Shabana became Rajni to marry Bablu at a temple. She left her family for the same.

Angered family members filed a complaint against Bablu alleging kidnapping. The police investigations revealed that Shabana was a major and she accepted in front of the court that she has left the house on her own will. After the statement, the court directed the police to dismiss the complaint.

Notably, this is not the first time that any Muslim woman has accepted the Sanatan fold and became Hindu.

Organiser reported a case from Bareilly back in May 2023 where, Nasreen became Neha fearing Triple Talaq and Halala. She also got married to a Hindu man.

Following the marriage, there were protests against the couple. The family members of Nasreen threatened the groom and the woman saying they will chop them into pieces. However, soon after the marriage, the couple reached the office of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Bareilly seeking protection.

The victim Nasreen is a resident of Digoi village that falls under the jurisdiction of Bhamora police. Nasreen in a media interaction said, “Though I was born in a Muslim family, I always had a special liking for the Hindu religion. I want to devote the rest of my life to Hindu deities and hence I have embraced Hindu religion”.

After, coming to the Sanatan fold, Neha got married to Rahul. She said she loves him and knows he will keep her safe and sound. She had chosen Rahul, as her life partner on her own and no one forced her to follow Hinduism.

She believes Hinduism provides freedom to women.

Recalling her past life Neha said, her husband before Rahul was a Muslim man. He was an alcoholic and used to assault her almost every single day. He used to doubt her a lot, after she gave birth to his child, he refused to accept the children and gave her instant triple talaq. After the talaq, he started pressuring her to undergo halala. Tired of his weird demands Nasreen returned to her parent’s house.

What is Triple Talaq?

Islamic clerics often claim that ‘Talaq’ is highly unwanted in a marriage and the last resort of the husband. However, it is routinely seen that Muslim men use it as a tool to blackmail or harass their wives.

What is Halala?

As soon as the husband says ‘Talaq..Talaq..Talaq’, the relationship between the couple is over as per Islamic customs. This practice is called ‘Talaq-e-Biddat’. After this is done, the woman has to live at her in-laws’ house but not with her husband for a duration of three months and 13 days.

Also in June 2023, a couple from Azamgarh reverted to the Sanatan fold after visiting Mathura and Ayodhya. Abid Ansari and Shabman became Aryan and Khubsu respectively. On reverting to the Sanatan fold they said, they were highly influenced by Hindu Dharma and that is why they have accepted it. In the last 14 years, they visited almost every Hindu tirth including Ayodhya, Banke Bihari in Mathura and others.

The couple belongs to the Jahanganj police station area of Azamgarh and is into the Hindu religion for a long time now. They have been celebrating Janmashtami for the past five years now.

This shift came from Abid’s workplace, Abid who is a driver by profession has been visiting multiple Hindu tirth with his employer. With these visits he developed a strong trust in Hindu gods and godesses, one day he told his employer about the idea of accepting Santan Dharma.

Then he asked his wife, they both in the presence of their friends and family accepted Sanatan Dharma. They made a temple inside their house, placed idols, and did shuddhi with gangajal and janeu. Some of their relatives were against the decision however, the couple said they were doing it on their own will.
