Around 100 families who were once converted to Christianity have been once again brought back into the Sanatan fold in a homecoming (Ghar wapsi) ceremony held in Jawahar Nagar mini stadium in Durg of Chhattisgarh on April 22.

The homecoming of these people is performed in the program under the name of “Rashtra Raksha Mahasammelan evam Ghar wapsi”, which was jointly organised by the Sarvhitkarini Manav Seva Sansthan and other Hindu outfits working in the region.

The ceremony, which witnesses hundreds of people from Odisha residing in Durg embracing back their bonafide religion again, was headed by the ‘Akhil Bhartiya Ghar wapasi Abhiyan’ head and senior BJP functionary in the State, Prabal Pratap Singh Judev, who in terms welcomed the families by washing their feet with the holy water of the Ganges.

In a video pertaining to the ceremony, Judev, a scion of the Jashpur Royal family and son of the late Dilip Singh Judev, founder of the Ghar wapsi Abhiyan, can be seen washing the feet of the returnee amid chants of Jay Shri Ram (victory to lord Rama), after which the organisers have gifted the returnees a set of clothes (angavastra).

Later in a tweet, Prabal Judev, while asserting on the significance of one’s connection to its religious roots, tweeted that “to forget one’s ancestors is to be a brook without source, a tree without roots.” Judev also expressed his delight at performing the Ghar wapsi ceremony.

'To forget one's ancestors is to be a brook without a source, a tree without roots.'

It is to be noted that this is not the first time that Prabal Judev and his associates have organised a Ghar wapsi ceremony as earlier on many occasions a large chunk of people in the Jashpur and adjoining regions had been brought back to the Sanatan fold.

Earlier, in a ‘GharWapsi’ ceremony held on the third day of Shrimadbhagavat Gita Katha, around 1100 people from more than 300 families were brought back to the Sanatan fold in Mahasamund of Chhattisgarh on January 19, this year, a similar GharWapsi ceremony had also been held in Katangpalli village of the district in which more than 1200 people had been brought back to their bonafide religion in March 2022.

In addition to that, many similar kinds of events were also held in Jashpur and nearby areas where people who were converted by the missionaries on the pretext of getting treated during the covid lockdowns had been re-converted to Hinduism.

Let us tell you that the tribal heartland of Chhattisgarh has a long history of illegal conversion promoted by Christian missionaries. Recently, the state has also witnessed a number of communal fissures between the local Hindu Vanvasi community and the evangelists in the Bastar region of the state.

The notable recent altercation had been triggered when a mob of around 200 evangelists attacked the local vanvasi community for protesting against the rampant illegal conversion by the mission-backed converted Christians in the gorra village of Narayanpur, resulting in a wide-scale protest by the vanvasi community in the whole Bastar region.

The Vanvasi community have also alleged the Baghel-led Government for keeping a blind eye on the misdeeds of evangelists, thanks to their vote bank appeasement policy.
