Notably, the police have confirmed the details as mentioned in the letter to the media. It is believed that the authorities are doing this as a preventive measure citing the Hanuman Jayanti violence in 2022.

Clashes on Hanuman Jayanti 2022

On April 16, 2022, Delhi witnessed violent communal clashes in the Jahangirpuri area in which eight police personnel and civilian were hurt. The clashes were followed by a Hanuman Jayanti procession which was allegedly attacked by Muslims living in the locality.

One accused was identified as Ansar Shiekh near Jama Mosque. Within no time hundreds of locals started attacking the procession with stones, police did take the situation under control and FIRs were lodged but people of the Hindu side sustained severe injuries.

As per a India Today report, the parents of one accused Salim Chikna accepted that their son fired bullet on people at the procession. Also, the accused were equipped with sticks, stones, petrol bottles and even gun.
