In yet another shocking incident, a VIth grade student was kidnapped from the outskirts of Kanhauli village under the Bihta police station area near Patna on March 16 evening; the horrific incident occurred when the student was returning home from his coaching centre.

The missing boy has been identified as Tushar Kumar, son of a Government school teacher Rajkishor Pandit. Tushar’s father, Rajkishor, after waiting for his return, made several calls on his mobile, but it was found to be switched off; later in the evening, his father received a voice note on his WhatsApp about a ransom of Rs 40 lakhs for the safe release of his son, the captors also informed the family members that his son is in an unconscious state and will be killed if their demands are not met, his father then reached the police station and filed a written complaint around 11 pm on March 16.

Bihta police, on the other hand, have registered the case and initiated an enquiry into this. Nobody saw him getting kidnapped, the way ransom money have been sought is also quite strange we are probing the case with all possible angles, quoted an official posted in the Bihta police station.

It has been learnt that the kidnappers have also threatened the family members with dire consequences if they opted to reveal the matter to anyone.

Reportedly, an SIT has been constituted in the case, and a search operation is being conducted to recover the student; speaking on the development, Paliganj ASP Awadhesh Dixit said: “that the SIT is probing the matter and technical help is being utilised by the police to take further action.”

Doctor’s son was kidnapped in Muzaffarpur

In a similar case, the only son of a renowned homoeopathic doctor SP Singh was also kidnapped from the Kanti over the bridge on March 16 evening; the incident occurred when kidnappers forcibly abducted Vivek Kumar (26) in a Scorpio near a private school and fled the spot.

Though the police team led by DSP West Abhishek Anand recovered the boy from Ara on March 18 morning, it’s been learnt that after the kidnapping, the police team collected and initiated their investigation based on the CCTV footage of the area.

Meanwhile, the captors made a ransom call to the father of the kidnapped youth and sought a ransom of Rs 30 lakhs; it was learnt that the police then, on the basis of phone location and tower dumping, recovered the kidnapped youth from Javed nagar colony of Bhojpur on March 18.

Reportedly, the kidnapping was planned and executed by a former tenant of the doctor who knows the victim too well.

It is to be noted that cases of kidnapping have been on the rise lately; earlier on March 3, an NMCH doctor Sanjay Kumar has gone missing from the Gandhi setu bridge of Patna; the Bihar police is yet to crack the case as nothing pertaining to the doctor has come to the fore so far.

In another incident, Rajesh Mishra, a State Government official posted in Madhubani, also went missing mysteriously from Muzaffarpur last month.

In a similar case, a Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader identified as Sunil Rai was also kidnapped from his residence in the wee hours of March 14; it’s been reported that Rai was going for a morning walk when around 6-7 unidentified masked goons kidnapped him in a Scorpio near his residence under Musaffail police station limits of Saran in Bihar.

Notably, the State has a long history of organised kidnapping crimes where numerous kidnapping related murders have taken place in the past.
