New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on February 10, inaugurated the new campus of Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah Arabic Academy in Mumbai. He was accompanied by the head of the Dawoodi Bohra community, His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin.
The Prime Minister unveiled the inaugural plaque and officially inaugurated the Arabic Academy with a ceremonial ribbon untying.
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said the Bohra community is a rich example of how traditions and modernity can go hand in hand. He said the community is very aligned with the new education policy principles that enable learning in regional language.
Also known as Jamea, this is an academic institute exclusively catering to the education of young boys and girls from the Dawoodi Bohra community, a Shiite denomination spread worldwide.
The academy will also provide its students with mainstream education in association with an internationally recognised school board curriculum.
The Prime Minister also lauded the community for prioritising women’s education and upgrading their syllabus per the hour’s need. Recalling that India once used to be a centre of knowledge and education with institutions like Nalanda and Takshila, the Prime Minister expressed the need to regain that glory.
Reiterating that the NDA government is duty-bound to support job creators and entrepreneurs, PM Modi said the Dawoodi Bohra community had experienced the benefits offered by the Government’s ease of
doing business initiative.
His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin thanked the Prime Minister for his long-standing relationship with the community and for support in the community’s good and bad times.
During his tour of Mumbai, the Prime Minister said that the Vande Bharat Express trains have revolutionised the railway sector and developed a craze among citizens to experience comfort. He flagged off two Vande Bharat Express trains from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus.
With the inauguration of Mumbai-Solapur and Mumbai-Shirdi services, the total number of Vande Bharat Express trains running across the country has reached ten.
Maharashtra has four Vande Bharat Express trains. It is also the first State in the country to have two intra-state Vande Bharat services.
Stating that it is the first time that two Vande Bharat trains are being launched, PM Modi said the trains would connect the key cities and economic powerhouses of Mumbai and Pune with pilgrimage sites of
Shirdi, Tuljapur, Pandharpur and Akkalkot.
The Prime Minister emphasised that the Vande Bharat trains represent the scale and speed of developing India.
The high-speed train has so far connected 108 districts across 17 states.
Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated the Santacruz Chembur Link Road and Kurar underpass that will ease road congestion in Mumbai.
