A BJP leader from Usur, Bijapur in Chhattisgarh has been brutally hacked to death by the Maoist on February 5, confirmed reliable sources.

As per the reports the BJP Mandal president of Usur, Neelkanth Lekker has been attacked by a group of armed Maoist when the latter was busy in one of his relative’s wedding in his ancestral village.

It has been learnt that the armed cadres of the proscribed CPI (M) attacked Neelkanth with axes and other sharp weapons till he fell down and died on the spot.

Maoist brutally hacked him in the presence of his family members and other villagers following which they fled the spot leaving a pamphlet, said a villager.

It’s been reported that the Maded Area Committee of the outlawed CPI (M) has taken the responsibility of the cold blooded murder.

Speaking on the development, IG Bastar range Sundar raj P, said that “we have received the news that the Maoist have killed a civilian in Paikram village under Awapalli police station limits, following which a police team has been rushed to the spot, we are probing it with all possible angles.”

It is to be noted that this is not the first time that the Maoists have deliberately targeted a civilian or a political representative, earlier in a similar kind of incident another BJP leader was murdered by the Maoist in Bhopalpatnam.

Last year the proscribed group had also issued warnings for the BJP workers for dire consequences if they did not opt to leave the ideology following which the BJP leaders have alleged that the Maoist are hand in gloves with some of the leaders of the ruling Congress party.
