In a ‘GharWapsi’ ceremony organised on the third day of Shrimadbhagavat Gita Katha, around 1100 people from more than 300 families were brought back to the Sanatan fold in Mahasamund of Chhattisgarh on January 19.

As per the reports, BJP state’s unit member Prabal Pratap Singh Judev welcomed these people by washing their feet with the sacred water of Maa Ganga while the Katha VachakHimanshuMaharaj administered their oath.

It’s been learnt that most of the people who were brought back to the Sanatan fold on January 19 were victims of illegal conversion run by Christian missionaries, “we were misled by the missionaries who had cunningly converted us on the pretext of providing financial aid, we now have realised our mistakes thus we are doing a gharwapsi we are elated by it”, said one of them who did a ‘Gharwapsi’.

It should be noted that this is not the first time that the Jashpur prince Judev has organised a GharWapsi campaign along with other saints of the region, but he, along with Arya Samaj and other notable Hindu outfits, has been running such campaigns since long which has led to the GharWapsi of more than 20000 people in the tribal heartland of India.

Earlier, a similar GharWapsi ceremony had also been held in Katangpalli village of the district in which more than 1200 people had been brought back to their bonafide religion in March 2022; in addition to that, many similar kinds of events were also held in Jashpur and nearby areas where people who were converted by the missionaries on the pretext of getting treated during the covid lockdown had been re-converted to Hinduism.

Let us tell you that the tribal heartland of Chhattisgarh has a long history of illegal conversion promoted by Christian missionaries. Recently, the state has also witnessed a communal fissure between the local Hindu Vanvasi community and the evangelists in the Bastar region.

The recent flare-up had been triggered when a mob of around 200 evangelists attacked the local vanvasi community for protesting against the rampant illegal conversion by the mission packed converted Christians in the gorra village of Narayanpur, resulting in a wide-scale protest by the vanvasi community in the whole Bastar region.

The Vanvasi community have also alleged the Baghel-led Government for keeping a blind eye on the misdeeds of evangelists, thanks to their vote bank appeasement policy.

It is to be noted that more than 100 people from the Vanvasi community has been named by the Government in the FIR following the protests by them.

Pastor arrested in Jashpur for promoting illegal conversion

It is notable to know that the menace of mission-backed converted Christians is on the rise in the state as there are frequent reports of evangelists cunningly converting innocent local Vanvasis by inviting them to ChangaiSabhas (praying ceremony), recently a similar case has also emerged from Jashpur where the police have also arrested a pastor identified as JayprakashTirkey for promoting illegal conversion in the region.

It’s been learnt that the pastor has recently organised a Changaisabha in Pathalgaon of Jashpur, where he was instigating the locals to adopt Christianity through illegal means; it’s been reported that the said pastor has been arrested, and a case under IPC 295 has been lodged against him subsequently.
