Kerala is ‘Number One’ even in police crimes

After completing 5 years in office, CM Vijayan's second LDF government took over on May 20, 2021. Therefore, the figures speak out that most of these police crimes took place during the CPM rule

The CPM-led ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF), with party supremo Pinarayi Vijayan as the CM, has been boasting that Kerala is No: 1 in all respects. All these fake claims are falling apart day by day. The latest is the record of criminal cases with policemen and officers as accused. During the last six years, 828 policemen or officers have been charged in criminal cases in Kerala. More people are from the Alappuzha district, that is, 99. This is the statistics since January 2016.

Interestingly, Pinarayi’s first LDF regime took over on May 25, 2016. After completing five years in office, his second government took over on May 20, 2021. Therefore, the figures show that most of these police criminal records are from the Pinarayi rule.

Six hundred thirty-seven accused are facing departmental investigations or actions. Interestingly, the accused crimes are ‘versatile’ and alarming. They sexually abuse women and children, drink in public, and threaten the vendors while purchasing from them. Manhandling the men for questioning, urinating in their private lanes, financial fraud and unholy nexus with quarry owners/operators, dowry torture, drunken driving, etc.   In some cases, the accused are punished. Some other issues are being heard in the courts.

Here is the district wise number of cases:

Those above can be counted as a liberal estimation. Observers maintain that several other incidents are fit to invite legal proceedings, but do not happen, thanks to the political patronage the accused enjoy. A couple of months back, a cop was suspended by Thrissur District Police Chief for allegedly sending obscene videos to a woman and pestering her with unwelcome and frequent calls. These are the blatant evidence for the hollowness of the tall claims being flaunted by LDF in general and CPM in particular that Kerala is the Numero Uno in all respects.
