The International Conference on ‘India as a Global Leader in Peace Building’ was organised by Aditi Mahavidyalaya of Delhi University and the Center for Media Studies (New Delhi) at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, New Delhi.

During this, Anil Vartak, Indian Diaspora Expert, Viswa Vibhag RSS, was the Chief Guest for the inaugural session, and Kunwar Prabal Pratap Judev, Ashok Pradhan, Mamta Sharma, and Prince Sharma were also in attendance.

In the first session, the Chief Guest and the teachers gave their presentations on topics like women, NGOs and environmental issues, all of which are important for peacekeeping in the world today. During this, Anil Vartak said that India has always been a leader in world peace. We have always given importance to efforts that promote peace in every situation. He also added that only in world peace lies the welfare of the whole world, including India.

In the second session, special guest journalists Ashok Srivastava, Shyam Kishore Sahay and Harsh Vardhan Tripathi highlighted India’s contribution to world peace, by speaking on the topic ‘India’s contribution to maintaining world peace. They said that India has always tried to create peace in the world at every step, whether it was giving the covid vaccine to other countries during the Corona period or building good relations with both the countries during the Russo-Ukraine war. The media can also play an important role in establishing world peace.

On the other hand, Prof Kumud Sharma said that India has always emerged as a major country in world politics. Prof. KG Suresh, Vice-Chancellor, Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication said that India has been the best in creating world peace since ancient times. Whenever we talk of peace and non-violence, the name of India comes up. India is the first country in the world which has never attacked any nation first. The imprint of Indian culture can be seen on the global stage. Swami Vivekananda had told the Indian view of world peace in 1893 in his Chicago address. India has also always given shelter to persecuted people from all over the world. Our nation was not formed based on religion. Instead, it came into being on cultural grounds. On this occasion Uday Mahurkar, Central Information Commissioner added that when India takes one step, the world takes one step. The Indian Army has played an important role in the campaigns for world peace. In 1952 Veer Savarkar had said that we should not accept China’s growing power lightly and become a nuclear power ourselves. India would not have been defeated in the 1962 war if Savarkar’s words had been obeyed. In 1971, India had taken more than one lakh Pakistani soldiers hostage during the war with Pakistan, at that time the Indian government should have taken some Hindu majority areas of Pakistan apart from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir which was not done. India will be able to play an important role in world peace only when India is strong militarily and economically.

In the end, all the participants were awarded certificates. The Principal of Aditi College, Prof. Mamta Sharma, Prof. Neelam Rathi, Dr Devendra Bhardwaj, Dr Ritu Khatri, Dr Praveen Gautam from the Center for Media Studies, Dr Neha Jingala, Dr Nidhi Choudhary and Dr Bijendra Kumar, various members of the organising committee, professors and students were present.
