Syed Abubakar Siddique, 39, moved out of prison in April last year after he secured bail. Little did the police know that Siddique would go on a stealing spree.
Since securing bail in April last year, Siddique has committed at least 18 thefts and burglaries.
On April 15, he broke open the glass of a car in Talaghattapura to steal a mobile phone, laptop and other valuables kept inside the car. The whole incident was captured on a CCTV. Police again started the search for Siddique.
After he was arrested last week, the police investigation revealed that at least 70 warrants are pending against him, and he was involved in 18 more theft and burglary cases since he moved out of prison on bail in April last year. After securing bail, he had stopped attending court cases.
“Siddique was involved in many houses burglary and vehicle theft cases reported in 2019 and earlier. He was arrested in December 2020 in a house theft case and walked out of prison on bail. Since then, Siddiq remained absent at court hearings and continued to steal. As of now, we have counted 18 such cases. In most of the instances, Siddique either stole a vehicle or valuables kept inside the vehicle/house,” a police officer told The Times of India.
Siddique’s wife and children live in Mysuru, and he was living in Bengaluru. Most of the cases of theft and burglary he has committed are in Bengaluru.
Police recovered five two-wheelers, nine laptops and 65000 rupees in cash from him.
