New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address BJP workers, ministers, MPs and MLAs on Wednesday, April 6, on the occasion of the party’s foundation day.
The party will also organise programmes across the country to observe Social Justice fortnight from April 7 to April 20, BJP general secretary Arun Singh said. Programmes will also be held during the campaign to mark BR Ambedkar’s birth anniversary on April 14, he added.
During this campaign, party workers will spread awareness about the public welfare schemes of the Modi government.
Briefing media after the BJP Parliamentary Party Meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said there would be programmes every day based on government schemes, including Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Har Ghar Jal Yojana during the period.
BJP national president J P Nadda, who held a meeting with party general secretaries to take stock of preparedness to celebrate the party’s foundation day, will unfurl the party’s flag at the party headquarters and garland the statues of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay.
A blood donation camp will also be organised at the party headquarters in New Delhi.
Arun Singh said party chief Nadda would also participate in a procession in the Karolbagh area in the capital on Wednesday.
The BJP, as a political outfit committed to staunch nationalism, was founded as the ‘Bharatiya Jana Sangh’ by Syama Prasad Mukherjee and like-minded people in 1951.
In 1977, Bharatiya Jana Sangh amalgamated with several parties and emerged as the Janata Party. However, several leaders, like Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L K Advani came out of the party and founded BJP on April 6, 1980. Since then, the BJP’s foundation day has been celebrated every year on April 6.
