Chief Minister N Biren Singh is leading the Heingang assembly segment ahead of his Congress rival P. Saratchandra Singh by a margin of 18,271 votes.

New Delhi: Trends from Manipur show BJP nominees are leading in some of the key segments in the hills and valley regions.

In Chandel, S S Olish of BJP is ahead of NPF candidate Langhu Paulhring Anal by a margin of 14,491 votes.

In politically sensitive Churachandpur, BJP candidate V Hangkhanlian is ahead of JD(U)'s L M Khaute by a margin of 1211 votes.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh is leading the Heingang assembly segment ahead of his Congress rival P. Saratchandra Singh by a margin of 18,271 votes.

In Bishenpur, Konthoujam Govindas Singh has established a lead against JD (U) nominee Oinam Nabakishore Singh.

Congress suffered immensely, and its tally came down to a modest 3 out of 41 trends for which were available, making it clear once again that the 'double engine' concept of Prime Minister works best in states such as Manipur.

Countless voters and political analysts in the run-up to the two-phase polls in Manipur have said what perhaps matters most for the electorate in Manipur is who rules in Delhi.

The table has simply turned against Congress. In fact, the trends show NPP of Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma is leading in six segments, and its vote share is at 16.89. In contrast, the Congress vote share dropped to 16.71 while the BJP's vote share has increased to 37.5 per cent. In 2017, the Congress vote share was 35.1 per cent, and BJP had polled 36.3 per cent.
