Dainik Bhaskar has interviewed the evacuated medical student and reported that the Union government was doing nothing for the stranded students.

Satakshi Sachan arrived in India on Friday (March 4) and upon her arrival, Dainik Bhaskar interviewed her and reported that the Union government was doing nothing for the stranded Indian students in Ukraine.

On Sunday (March 6), Sachan, who is from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, released a video statement saying she was stressed and her condition was manipulated by the media. She thanked the Modi government for evacuating her from Ukraine.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin had ordered a military operation in Ukraine. As a result, about 20000 Indian nationals were stranded in the country.

Starting Operation Ganga, the Modi government pressed all buttons for the safe evacuation of Indian nationals from Ukraine, mostly students.

In his telephonic conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed the safety and evacuation of Indian nationals. Both assured the prime minister that the safety of Indian nationals in Ukraine would be ensured.

Four Union ministers were pressed into action and were deputed to the neighbouring countries of Ukraine to ensure the smoothness of the evacuation process. More than 80 flights, including from the Indian Air Force, were pressed into action. Jyotiraditya Scindia is coordinating from Romania and Moldova, Kiren Rijiju from Slovakia, Hardeep Singh Puri from Hungary and Gen. V. K. Singh (retd.) from Poland.

Commenting on the development, columnist and writer Vikas Saraswat said, “The girl was traumatised. She vented out her emotions the way that shrewd journalist wanted. Have seen this how Shekhar Gupta’s Print manipulated Amit Jaiswal’s sister and brother-in-law at a very emotional moment. They refused to carry the later bytes by relatives.”

Amit Jaiswal, a BJP worker from Agra, died of Covid-19 in May last year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi followed him on Twitter. After his death, his sister, and brother-in-law vented out in anger, blaming PM Modi and the BJP for not arranging any help in time for Jaiswal. The family was in deep stress as Jaiswal’s mother, too, had passed away simultaneously, and The Print used the interview of his sister and brother-in-law to take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
