Sansad TV said the YouTube channel was compromised because ofbecause of unauthorised activities by some scamsters and was changed to "Ethereum" by the attacker.

Sansad TV's YouTube channel, which broadcasts live proceedings of the House and recorded programmes, was compromised for a few hours on Tuesday (February 15). It was restored later.

"YouTube channel of Sansad TV got compromised due to unauthorised activities by some scamsters on February 15 2022, including live streaming on this channel. Also, the channel name has been changed to "Ethereum" by the attacker," Sansad TV said in a statement. It further added that the channel was restored later.

A search, in the afternoon, of Sansad TV channel's account on YouTube displayed a message that it had been "terminated" by the platform "for violating YouTube's Community Guidelines". Sansad TV said YouTube was working on permanently rectifying the problem.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the Sansad TV in September last year. It was formed by merging the Lok Sabha TV and the Rajya Sabha TV.

"In these fast-changing times of the 21st century, the role of information and broadcasting platforms, such as media and television, is also changing. I hope we will make a similar new beginning with Sansad TV that will be equipped with the latest technology and have wide reach among people," Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said at the launch event.

He had further added, "I hope there are shows centred on the duty of citizens towards the country and also on ground-level work such as that being done in Gram Panchayats."

In the last week of January, a digital Sansad app was launched by the Lok Sabha secretariat. "In a sovereign democratic republic, it is the duty of the Parliament to uphold the highest standards of transparency. Digital Sansad App is an empowering realisation of Parliament's holistic and continuous efforts to keep progressing towards that goal," Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had said while launching the app.
