Trinamool MLA joins BJP in Manipur

Tongbram Robindro Singh, the lone MLA of All Indian Trinamool Congress (AITC) has joined Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday (January 20) along with former Congress MLA Yengkhom Surchandra Singh at Thambal Sanglen, HQ of BJP Manipur Unit.

The duo joined BJP in the presence of state President Adhikarimayum Sarda Devi, BJP’s election co-in-charge Pratima Bhoumik, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment and Ashok Singhal, Health Minister of Assam.

“The joining reflects the growing positive attitude towards the progress our state has made under the dynamic leadership of PM Narendra Modi ji and CM Shri N. Biren Singh,” BJP, President of Manipur, said while welcoming the new entrant.

While addressing the gathering, the president of BJP, Manipur Pradesh, said that the joining of Robindro and Surchandra was recommended by the high-level committee of the party, and there will be no harm in the nomination of candidates in the ensuing Manipur legislative assembly elections.

All the intending candidates will work together for the party and form a BJP only government with 40 plus seats after the 12th Assembly election, she said while appealing BJP workers to work unitedly for the party's victory in the upcoming elections.
