CM Sarma said Congress high command and Punjab CM Channi was directly involved in the conspiracy to kill the Prime Minister on 5th January.

Guwahati: Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma demands the arrest of Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi for involvement in a conspiracy to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a press meet in Guwahati, CM Dr Sarma alleged that Congress high command and Punjab CM Channi were directly involved in the conspiracy to kill the Prime Minister on 5th January. "The insensible comments on the incident by Congress leaders made me believe that they are also a part of the ploy," he said.

CM Sarma said that after the confession of the DSP and SHO of Punjab police, it is clear that the Punjab government had full information about the conspiracy to disturb the prime minister's program by some radical groups. But the police were barred by the Congress government in Punjab from acting to protect the nation's Prime Minister. CM Sarma questions the integrity of the Punjab CM Channi as he didn't even receive the PM, nor his CS and DGP were sent to receive PM Modi. Himanta Biswa Sarma said it was an international conspiracy by radical Khalistani groups, Punjab government, and its CM was a part of it. He demands a high-level neutral investigation of the entire episode. Dr Sarma also said that Punjab police intelligence received a report of the involvement of Khalistani radical groups in the conspiracy on 2nd January.

"The protesters who protested on 5th January also belong to such groups, which is now proved in a sting operation by a television news channel. But still, the Punjab government didn't do enough to protect the prime minister of the nation. The PM was stuck for 20 minutes, just 10 km away from the Pakistan border and was dangerously vulnerable to any attack by the enemy. This confirms that Punjab CM was part of the international conspiracy and should be arrested immediately," Dr Sarma added.
