This is not the first time Jawhar Sircar has posted fake/morphed images/videos on social media. In June this year, he had posted a fake picture of Nita Ambani with PM Modi.

Habitual offender Jawhar Sircar did it again on Thursday (December 23).

Sircar, who led the public broadcaster Prasar Bharati in the UPA era, posted a fake video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The video he posted was about PM Modi’s recent visit to Varanasi to inaugurate the Kashi Vishwanath Dham project.

In his visit last week, PM Modi decided to take a late-night impromptu visit of the city with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. People were surprised and started raising ‘Har Har Mahadev’ and ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ greetings. These are very common greetings in Varanasi.

The video of this incident had gone viral on social media.

Jawhar Sircar was nominated to the Rajya Sabha by Trinamool Congress in July this year. Shri Sircar posted the same video with morphed audio. In his video, people could be heard shouting ‘Modi hai hai’ and ‘Yogi chor hai’.

Social media platform Twitter marked the tweet ‘manipulated media’. After protest, Shri Sircar deleted the post. But, this is not the first time when he has posted fake/morphed pictures/videos of PM Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath.

As reported by the Organiser in June this year, Shri Sircar had tweeted a morphed picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the fake picture, PM Modi could be seen greeting billionaire businessman Mukesh Ambani’s wife Nita Ambani.

In the original picture, PM Modi was greeting the tribal social worker Deepika Mondol.

With the morphed picture, Shri Sircar wrote, “Wish fellow parliamentarians and others in politics also received such courtesy and bonhomie- from their permanently-scowling PM. In a mature democracy, we would know the two-way relationship, favours, transactions. Some day, history will tell us.”

After uproar on social media, he deleted the tweet.

Recently, he had also tweeted a fake audio clip of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Shri Sircar was appointed Prashar Bharati CEO by the Congress-led UPA in 2012.
