Muslim student body threatens to build a house on roads if eviction continues against illegal migrant settlers.

Guwahati: Assam MLA Badruddin Ajmal claims that the Muslim population in the state has increased 5 per cent further to 40 per cent, and the Hindu population has gone down to 60 per cent below, which will reflect once the 2011 census is finalised.

In an interview with a news portal, AIUDF MLA Karimuddin Barbhuyan claims there is no need to hide the reality as the Muslim population is now 40 per cent in Assam. The AIUDF MLA further stated that it is now 40-60 in Assam, which means 40 per cent Muslims and 60 per cent Hindu, so it is now impossible to ignore their consents.

The MLA also demands that the population pattern should be reflected in the government job. In other words, Karimuddin Barbhuyan demands job reservations for the Muslim population in Assam. Barbhuyan further added the reparations would be very bad if this didn't happen. He said CM Himanta Biswa Sarma disagreed with the demand for job reservation for Muslims raised by MLA Sherman Ali in assembly. Barbhuyan even said that it is now almost clear that the population composition is 40-60 in Assam, and ignoring the huge Muslim population will have adverse consequences.

The migrant Muslim student body AAMSU recently threatened to paralyse the state with a huge protest against the eviction drive by the government. The AAMSU leadership said that if 1crore 50 lakhs Muslims come out to the street in Assam, the state will be paralysed, and the government will be responsible for dire consequences. He has gone one step further and threatened that if the government continues the eviction against Muslims, they will build houses on the roads of the state.
