New Delhi: Diplomatic corps and military commanders from across the globe have condoled the untimely demise of the 'Commander' and India's first CDS Gen Bipin Rawat and others.
US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin said – "I had the pleasure of meeting Gen Rawat earlier this year and I am deeply saddened to hear the news of his passing."
"He leaves behind a remarkable legacy. My prayers are with the Rawat family and those of the other victims," Austin said.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Indian people following the tragic accident today in which 13 people were killed, including Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat. Om Shanti," said a tweet from the Israeli Foreign Ministry digital team.
"Russia has lost a very close friend, who played a big role in promotion of our bilateral special and privileged strategic partnership," tweeted Nikolay Kudashev, the Russian ambassador to India. "Grieving together with India. Goodbye, friend! Farewell, commander," he further wrote.
Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff of Pakistan, expressed his condolences on the tragic death of Indian CDS Gen Bipin Rawat, his spouse, and 11 others.
Former army chief and Minister of State Gen V K Singh also expressed condolence and said the country lost a brave soldier.
Anand Ranganathan, the author, says – "Gone too soon".
"On June 4, 2015, NSCNK terrorists killed 18 of our Jawans. Just 5 days later, a man planned, steered, and executed a surgical strike deep across the Myanmar border. 102 terrorists were neutralised. We suffered 0 casualties. Zero. The man was General Bipin Rawat."
