Ex Mumbai ACP Accuses Param Bir of Destroying Kasab’s Phone

Retired Mumbai ACP, Pathan alleged Param Bir Singh of destroying Ajmal Kasab's phone, which would've become a vital piece of evidence.

In a shocking allegation, Retired Mumbai Police ACP Shamsher Khan Pathan accused Param Bir Singh of hiding Ajmal Kasab's phone and destroying it.

The retired ACP submitted a written complaint in July to the Mumbai Police Commissioner, requesting to launch an investigation on the case and take further action.

Param Bir Singh was then DIG of Anti-terrorism Squad and allegedly took the phone from the constable and destroyed it, a vital piece of evidence. 

Pathan said the attackers were speaking with their handlers in Pakistan, and it would've known whether there were any Indians involved in it if the phone was retrieved.

Pathan, in the complaint, has said the then senior inspector of the DB Marg police station, N R Mali, had informed him that they had recovered a mobile phone from Kasab, and the device was handed over to a constable identified only as Kamble.

Though the complaint was submitted four months ago, it became viral when Param Bir Singh appeared before the Mumbai Police crime branch to record the statement in an extortion case filed against him at Goregaon police station.

In March this year, Param Bir was removed as the Mumbai police chief and was succeeded by Hemanth Nagrale.

Mumbai's Esplanade court declared Param Bir Singh a proclaimed offender in an extortion case. The court further passed a proclamation to declare Param Bit Singh as absconder if he does not respond to the summons in 30 days.
