In September 1947, immediately after Independence, Muslim officers in Delhi had planned to overthrow the government in a bloody coup.

In September 1947, barely a few days after Independence, the interim government in Delhi was busy dealing with massive anti-Hindu riots at borders and in many other parts of the country.

In the midst of this, senior Muslim officers of police in Delhi and Delhi University had planned to kill the senior leaders of the interim government and capture Red Fort. The plan also included hoisting the Pakistan flag on the Red Fort.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) informers informed the senior people about this plan.

The senior functionaries of the RSS decided to confirm the information, and a Swayamsevak named Khosla was tasked with gathering concrete information about the plan.

Khosla, with other Swayamsevaks, hatched the plan to steal documents from the Delhi University officer’s bungalow.

When the documents were handed over to the senior functionaries of the RSS, they were shocked to see the plan for the bloody coup. They also realised that the RSS couldn't avert it.

So, the senior functionaries of the RSS approached Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on the night of September 6 & 7, 1947.

A massive search operation was launched before the planned coup of September 10. Caches of arms and ammunition were recovered from Paharganj mosque, Sabji Mandi mosque and Mehrauli mosque.

Then Congress President Acharya Kriplani had written about the incident, “Muslims had arranged huge cache of arms and ammunition for the coup. Senior Muslim officers in Delhi were involved. The government had to call forces from the adjoining areas to quell the coup.”

The details of the coup have been revealed in the book “Vibhajankalin Bharat Ke Sakshi by Krishnanand Sagar”.

The book, published in four volumes, meticulously details the history of Partition.

Shri Sagar, a veteran Swayamsevak, told the Organiser, “If this coup would have been successful, today there would have been Pakistan rule in Delhi. But the timely intervention by the Swayamsevaks and Sardar Patel averted this crisis.”

The four-volume book is the result of meticulous planning and two decades of hard work. More than 500 people who had witnessed Partition were interviewed for this.

“In 1994, president of Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Yojana, Thakur Ram Singh ji called me and asked me to work on this book. But, because of my other engagements I politely declined. He called me again in 2020 and I couldn’t say ‘No’ this time”, Sagar ji told the Organiser.

The book was launched by Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat ji on Thursday (November 25) evening in Noida (Uttar Pradesh).

The meticulously detailed oral history of the Partition is backed by supporting evidence that was carefully assigned to the dustbin of history. The result was limited information about the bloody Partition of India.

The book details how Partition was carefully planned by the British, and the Congress and the Muslim League were important and vital elements in it.

Mahatma Gandhi, who had earlier said India would be divided only on his dead body, said Muslims have a right to seek a separate country a few weeks later.

The result of the appeasement policy of Congress was the bloody Partition of India.
