Tinsukia: Days after PLA terrorists ambushed an AR convoy killing one Colonel and 4 Soldiers in Churachandpur district of Manipur, Assam Rifles today gunned down qathree NSCN (K-YA) terrorists in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh on Monday.

The development came within 48 hours of a deadly ambush on a convoy of Assam Rifles killing the commandant  Coo Viplav Tripathi, his wife, minor son and four personnel in Manipur. Assam Rifles said that they received an input that a group of 8 to 10 armed militants  had kidnapped two persons from Lahu village in Khonsa in Arunachal Pradesh. Based on a specific input, the AR team conducted an operation in the dense forest of Khonsa. Three NSCN (K-YA) terrorists were killed during the rescue operation. The killed militants are Myanmarese nationals, indicating that Myanmar-origin militants are sneaking inside Indian territory and indulging in criminal and terrorist activity,” the source added.

The kidnapped persons have been identified as Rowang Lownag, chief of Lahu village, and Sunwang Hakhun – both of them have been safely rescued and handed over to local police.

The operation was conducted by a joint team of Assam Rifles and Arunachal police. The team  launched a joint operation in Khogla village, around 10 km from the Indo-Myanmar border, under the Waka circle.

During the search operation, a group fired on the security force and three terrorists  were gunned down by the force,” the sources added.

Security forces have recovered three assault rifles, including a German-made HK (Hacker Kosch) rifle, and a huge quantity of ammunition. The identity of the militants are yet to be identified.
