In yet another incident of Pakistan trying to divide Indians through a manufactured hate campaign, a closer look at the recent trolls against Indian fast bowler Mohammad Shami shows a sinister plot by Pakistan. Pakistan had been continuously trying to create a fake narrative of Muslims being ‘targeted’ in India. Accounts criticising Mohammad Shami were of Pakistani origin, and some were run by various agencies; showing that it was actually a weaponization of social media from predictable sources.

Shami was trolled and abused on social media after India lost to Pakistan by 10 wickets in the ongoing T20 World Cup. Certain section of Indian social media users began a coordinated campaign to highlight the hateful posts. Prior to that nobody bothered to check the origin of these posts.

Soon after Pakistani social media users started to launch a hate campaign against Shami, even 'journalists' on the Indian side also started to jump into the issue and start playing the victim card.

Meanwhile, Incidents of people residing in India celebrating Pakistan’s victory also surfaced on social media. But these were conveniently ignored by those who were busy spreading the Pakistani propaganda.
