Manipur Nurse who administered 15000 Covid vaccine doses widely lauded in North East after her interaction with PM Modi

Imphal: Manipur nurse Sister Christina, who administered a record 15000 doses of Covid vaccine,  became hero and youth icon after Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with her at Delhi’s Ram Manohar Lohia hospital. The PM had paid a visit to the facility to pay tribute to workers in healthcare as India administered over one billion COVID-19 vaccine shots on October 21. PM Modi blessed the young nurse for her service to the nation and the picture of PM Modi interacting with Sister Christiana goes viral and became talk of the town in the region. 

Christiana, 26-year-old is the only member in her family to have chosen  a career in Medicine. Hailing from Manipur’s Senapati district where she completed her schooling and then went on to pursue BSc in Nursing from AIIMS Patna. She then completed her MSc from AIIMS Delhi before being posted at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital during the pandemic.

Christina called the journey a long and satisfying one as she took pride in administering 15,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Initially, The confident health worker said that initially people were hesitant but eventually, with time  everyone came forward and people understood the importance of the vaccine.

Interacting with the Prime Minister, Christina reportedly told PM Modi  that her parents initially feared her Covid duties, but when they realised that this is a service to mankind they became supportive. 

Taking pride in the Frontline warrior of Northeast India, DoNER minister G Kishan Reddy took to Twitter sharing appreciation for the nurse. “Pradhan Sevak with Frontline warriors. In a step towards further boosting the confidence & morale of our frontline warriors, Hon PM Shri @narendramodi Ji interacted with Manipur’s Sister Christina, who has administered 15,000 doses of Covid vaccine."
