In yet another instance of CPM showing its allegiance to the Islamist SDPI, the red party is all set to suspend its leader and Pathanamthitta Municipal councillor V R Johnson for commenting against SDPI. According to the reports, the Local Committee has given the recommendation to suspend Johnson for a period of one year. Earlier, CPM had sought explanation from him about the disruptions that happened during the Pathanamthitta town branch conference.

V R Johnson had posted in the Pathanamthitta Municipality Whatsapp group that he won the municipal election without the support of SDPI and this clearly irked the CPM leadership. CPM is ruling Pathanamthitta Municipality with the support of SDPI. As a thanksgiving, the party has given Vice-Chairperson post to the SDPI nominee.

It is also speculated that Johnson was keen on fighting the election for the post of Branch secretary. Sensing his victory, CPM deliberately tried to create a ruckus and stop the election procedure.
