Guwahati: Unlike other States of northeast Bharat, Mizoram continues to report the visible number of novel coronavirus infections, which compelled the centre to send a team of experts to study and access the Covid-19 crisis in the Myanmar-Bangladesh bordering state, where the partial lockdown continues in Aizawl till 18 September.

The hilly state with a population of around 12 lakhs has 13,366 active cases, with 1,502 individuals reportedly infected on Tuesday. Shockingly, over 300 children have also been infected that worry both the government in Aizawl and New Delhi. To date, Mizoram has recorded 72,883 positive cases, where 59,273 patients have already recovered. Casualty has gone up to 244.

According to the government sources, the Aizawl district has registered the highest number of cases (879), followed by Champhai (144) and Siaha (101). The authority has tested over 9.74 lakh people, and its recovery rate rests at 81.32%. Altogether, 6.64 lakh people were vaccinated, where 3 lakh have received both doses.

Pu Zoramthanga led the Mizoram government continues the partial lockdown in Aizawl municipal area till Friday. All the places of worship and community halls are allowed to reopen only in corona-free localities outside the capital city with some restrictions.
