These people were lodged in various jails in Afghanistan, but when the Taliban started to capture provinces, one after the other, ISKP terrorists, numbering thousands, were freed from prisons. Most of the ISKP terrorists are suspected to be in Nangarhar province bordering Pakistan.

Nangarhar was once a stronghold of Al-Queda. Munsib, recruited for the Islamic State online, is identified as living in this province by the intelligence agency. It is suspected that there are around 4000 ISKP terrorists in Nangarhar province.
