Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Congress is trying to stall the ongoing session of the parliament without a debate on any issue.

Guwahati: The Congress party does not have a leader who can speak on any issue of national interest. The party does not want to debate on issues because they don’t have a leader who can carry a debate in the parliament, and the party is not prepared for a debate inside the parliament. Congress is trying to stall the ongoing session of the parliament without a debate on any issue. Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma told the news agency ANI in New Delhi.

Dr. Sarma said,” Stalling the session of the parliament is a cleaver ploy of the Congress, so that they don’t get exposed.” He further stated that in the last five years, he did not hear any speech inside the parliament on any issue of national interest by any Congress parliamentarian, which evoked a response from the common people or which has been discussed by the people. When BJP was in the opposition, he said people used to discuss what its leaders, like late Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, had raised inside the parliament. But for the last six-plus years, when Congress is in the opposition, they don’t have someone who can lead a discussion in the parliament and which the nation hears. The Chief Minister further added that stalling the works of the parliament with no proper issue is a strategy by Congress to divert the people's attention so that they don’t get exposed.

Dr. Sarma was in Delhi on Monday (August 9), and he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Parliament house. He appraised the Prime Minister about the latest development on Assam-Mizoram border disputes. Sarma said both states have taken some confidence-building measures after the violent clash on July 26. Discussion on border dispute settlement will take some time to start between Assam and Mizoram. Besides that, the Assam Chief Minister discussed issues like anti-drug operation by the Assam government, the revival of Namrup Fertilizer Company, the latest Covid situation in the state etc., with the Prime Minister.
