Taliban terrorists have removed Nishan Sahib, the Sikh religious flag, from the roof of Gurdwara Thala Sahib in Chamkani in the Paktia province of Afghanistan.

It is said that the historical Gurdwara was visited by Sri Guru Nanak Dev.

Afghanistan has been witnessing Taliban-driven violence in light of the ongoing withdrawal of troops by the US.

India has expressed strong concern over the situation in that country and advocated that peace in Afghanistan is critical to enduring peace in the region.

Last year, the Afghan Taliban had abducted one Nedan Singh Sachdeva, an Afghani Sikh from the same Gurdwara.
