Another US report has said the Covid-19 virus, which caused over 45 lakh deaths globally, leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China.

On Monday (August 2), a US report said SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19, leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China.

The report, released by US Republicans, said, “A preponderance of evidence proves the virus that caused the COVID-19 pandemic leaked from a Chinese research facility,” reported Reuters.

Earlier, the lab leak theory was dismissed as the fantasy of a few and propaganda. But, after multiple pieces of evidence suggesting the virus leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China, global demand for a fair probe into the origin of the virus is growing.

In January this year, a team of experts visited China to probe the origin of the virus. But the visiting team was not allowed access to the primary data at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

The US President Joe Biden had asked his intelligence community to probe the virus's origin and submit a report by August end.

The recently concluded G7 Summit in the UK asked China to join a global probe into the virus's origin. China refused.
