Kerala continued to report a surge in COVID cases as it confirmed 20,624 new positive cases on Saturday, 31st July . The test positivity rate is 12.31 per cent at present. Over 1,67,000 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Eighty deaths were also confirmed due to COVID today taking the total death toll to 16,781. Bringing respite, 16,865 people recovered from the Coronavirus infection.
The central team visited Alapuzha and Kollam districts today and took stock of the situation there. The team will visit ten selected districts in the state where the TPR figures are continuously escalating and the disease is most prevalent. It will assess the rate of spread of the infection and hold discussions with the various District Administration and Health Department officials.
