Kerala contributed more than 50 per cent in the new cases in the last 24 hours in the country.
The Union government has sent a team of experts to Kerala amid the worsening situation in the state. Kerala recorded more than 22000 Covid-19 cases, which was more than 50 per cent of the new Covid-19 cases in the country.
“Central Government is sending 6 member team to Kerala headed by NCDC Director. As large number of COVID cases are still being reported in Kerala, the team will aid state’s ongoing efforts in #COVID19 management”, posted Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
Since the first case of Covid-19 was detected in Kerala last year, the Covid-19 situation has never been better in the state.
Kerala has announced a complete lockdown in the state on July 31 and August 1.
“Complete lockdown to be imposed in #Kerala on 31st July and 1st August due to rising COVID19 cases in the state”, tweeted ANI.
Last week, Kerala eased the lockdown rules to facilitate the celebration of Bakrid. The matter had reached the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court did not cancel the notice about relaxation in Covid-19 lockdown rules for the Bakrid celebration but said it would hold the Kerala government responsible if Covid-19 cases rise post-celebration.
The positivity rate in the state is above 11 per cent.
