Father-in-Law Nazeer Ahmed Rapes Daughter-in-Law, Husband Abid Divorces Victim Using Triple Talaq

“The incident happened Wednesday night in Meerut. Ahmed is employed in Provincial Armed Constabulary and Abid and his wife are employed with UP Police. ”

 In a shocking incident, one Nazeer Ahmed, who is a constable with Provincial Armed Constabulary in Ghaziabad, raped his police constable daughter-in-law Wednesday night in Meerut.

He also threatened to kill her if she narrated the incident to anybody.

The victim narrated the incident to her husband Abid, who is also a constable with Uttar Pradesh Police. Instead of helping his wife and lodging a complaint against his father, Abid instantly divorced her using the now outlawed practice of triple talaq.

The victim gathered courage and lodged a complaint against her husband and father-in-law. She has also accused them of harassing her for dowry.

The victim was married to Abid three years back.

The police have registered an FIR and launched a manhunt to arrest Nazeer and his son Abid.

SP (City) Vineet Bhatnagar said the police had registered an FIR and would arrest the accused soon.

The Union government through an act in 2019, Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage)Act, 2019, had outlawed the practice of triple talaq.
