Forced conversions have become a daily phenomenon in Pakistan: India at UNHRC

India has seen reports of minor girls belonging to religious minorities being abducted, raped, forcibly converted, and married in Pakistan, said Pawan Badhe, first secretary in India’s permanent mission in Geneva. India termed forced conversions of girls from the minority community in Pakistan “a daily phenomenon.”

He claims, around 1000 girls from religious minorities are forcibly converted in Pakistan every year.

Pakistan’s conversion activities happen with State support.

Pakistan has failed to protect these victims of rape, abduction, forced marriage, and forced conversion from exploitation by extremist mullahs and Islamic fundamentalist groups.

“Systemic persecution of minorities, including Christians, Ahmadiya, Sikhs, Hindus through Draconian blasphemy laws, forced conversions and marriages and extrajudicial killings, has become a regular phenomenon in Pakistan. Holy and ancient sites of religious minorities in Pakistan have been attacked and vandalized,” Pawan Badhe added.
