The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Monday announced that the state will vaccinate one crore, people, against Covid-19 in June under ‘Mission June’.
The vaccination drive will start in all 75 districts of the state from Tuesday.
He said, “Our target is to vaccinate one crore people in June. We have vaccine shots to meet our target.”
The chief minister also said a special drive will start from June 15 targeting those from the economically weaker section of the society.
More than 6000 vaccination centres will be operating to meet the target.
Of the 75 districts in the state, 61 will open from today. The other 14 districts, where the number of active cases is still above 600, will be under lockdown.
The state government is also setting up more than 350 Oxygen plants to take care of any emergency need.
When the second wave of Covid-19 struck in March this year, medical Oxygen became scarce as there was a sudden rise in demand.
