Senior Trinamool Congress leader Derek O’Brien Tuesday threatened India Today Executive Editor Deep Halder
He called the journalist “filthy rumour monger” and “Bengal hater”.
Halder had reported about the post-poll violence unleashed by the TMC cadre on BJP and RSS workers.
O’Brien had tweeted, “Don’t EVER try this again. You or anyone else. This time caught red-handed. Filthy RUMOR MONGER and Bengal hater. Your publishers @HarperCollinsIN and your employers @indiatoday should be ashamed of you.”
Publisher Harper Collins had recently published a book by Halder titled “BENGAl 2021: An Election Diary”.
Another book by Halder titled “Blood Island: An Oral History of the Marichjhapi Massacre” had been a bestseller.
Halder had reported that BJP alleged its two women party workers were gangraped.
The West Bengal police termed it a fake news.
The TMC leaders were asking for action against Halder.
Massive violence had been unleashed on the opponents by the TMC cadre.
Massive attempt was made to discard the report of crimes as fake news.
Senior TMC leader Mahua Moitra tweeted, “To @BJP’s fake troll army busy disseminating a nationwide fake news campaign on how WB is burning. It is not. Stop the lies. It cost you Bengal. Will cost you India next.”
