1.33 crore people registered for vaccination on CoWIN, a platform dedicated for the vaccination process, Wednesday as the vaccination process opened for the 18-44 age bracket.

The drive to vaccinate the 18-44 age bracket will start from May 1.

The overwhelming response on the platform indicates the vaccination hesitancy is going away as more and more people want to get vaccinated and return to work.

Bharat has 60 crore people in the age bracket 18-44. The web portal received almost 55000 hits per second.

Considering the huge population and the destruction caused by the second wave, the rush was very expected.
The Union government had decentralised the vaccination process. So, states can also procure vaccines directly from the manufacturers.

The vaccination process of 45+ will also continue.

Two vaccines, Covishield, manufactured by the Pune-based Serum Institute of India and Covaxin, developed and manufactured by Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech, are being administered for the time being in the country.
More vaccines are in the pipeline.

The world’s largest vaccination drive against Covid-19 started in Bharat on January 16 this year.
More than 15 crore doses have already been administered.
